I was able to take this bike out for a 50 mile ride earlier to see what these vintage Cannondales were all about. The ride is soft yet the frame is stiffer than various vintage steel bikes that I've ridden. The oversized aluminum tubing provides a rather comfortable ride. It appears the previous owner had swapped parts out over the years. The head set is a newer shimano deore xt. The wheels are Mavic hoops laced to a sealed bearing Shimano 600 front hub and Sansin rear sealed bearing hub. The stem had been upgraded to Cinelli and the drop bars are Scott. The bike sports a Laser San Marco Saddle of the era. Besides these changes the bicycle appears to be completely original Made in the USA Cannondale. The bicycle could easily be upgraded with modern components to bring it to the integrated shifter/brake lever age. The bicycle in the pictures is a mint green 50cm.
I owned a 1986 mint green Cannondale until recently when it was stolen out of my garage. I'm not sure where you are based or whether or not you're looking to sell, but I would really like to purchase your bike.
