Early 90's Performance Vitesse

I failed to take a picture of it before tearing it down and moving all the parts to another frame, but for the sake of documenting the bicycle here's some specs

The frame is Japanese built Fully lugged chromoly 54cm. The seat stay has a 'P' of sorts etched into it. The bicycle came equipped with a complete Shimano Exage group (cranks, pedals, brake calipers and handles, derailleurs, hubs) and indexed shifters. The quill stem and handlebars were unbranded. The wheels were 700c Mavic MA with seemingly original Vittoria tires. I attained it with the dented top tube and everything else was is great condition thus it was completely stripped. The parts were donated to a bare frame Trek 500 tri series I built up for a friend to give to his girlfriend.

Thanks to Dr. Day, below are pictures of his own great looking complete Performance Vitesse

  1. I have this identical bike, same colors etc. I bought it new in Boulder Co in 1989, and it has served me well. Just recently had it completely overhauled and rebuilt. Shimano Exage gruppo works like new, clicks thru the gears like butter. Wheels are double-walled, so worth having rebuilt. Color sun-faded, as is yours, but still looks alright. Bike is a solid, smooth-riding steel beast with a great road compliance and smooth-as-steel-can-be ride. Love the bike!
