1976 Trek tx304

I found this first year Trek locally, missing it's front wheel and seat, but otherwise all original. It was in rough shape, Clearly having spent a good deal of time outdoors. Luckily the chrome pieces were in decent shape. My friend decided to keep it for herself so we completely disassembled the bike to refurbish. Due to the nature of the Trek being from the first year Trek began to produce complete bicycles I was hesitant to repaint the frame. We finally decided it would be a benefit to the bicycle to build it back to be ridden and enjoyed. The frame was dropped off to get sandblasted and powder coated. Unlike many powdercoat jobs I've seen on bikes, this shop doesn't lay it on heavy, every detail of the bike's lugs can be appreciated. The bicycle came with dia compe G brakes, Sun tour Cyclone derailleurs, Sugino Maxy Crank, Sugino bottom bracket. The tubing is Ishiwata, SR stem, Handlebars and seatpost. Below is the bike with it's current set up. The basket in the back has been removed. The wheels were upgraded to mavic 700c to fit modern tires. The brake calipers will be upgraded to modern Tekro dual pivot calipers for greater stopping power. It's been outfitted with a Brooks B-17 Narrow saddle, Pasela tourguard tires and Deda mistral handlebar tape. We're still planning on getting the original Trek decals on the bike from Velocals.com
